Podcast Update
Podcasts are what I primarily listen to in the office or when I’m working around the house. I’ve blogged about this before but I wanted to update my list. I’ve deleted the Harry Potter podcasts. I wish I had the time to listen to them, but they were just taking up space in my library. There is some commentary and links (when possible) to both the show and the direct iTunes link.
Theology:
- Chapel Sermons from Concordia Semianry, St. Louis. Nearly every sermon preached since September 2006 is online.
- The House Channel. A great new podcast from CPH that highlights different things going on at “the house” including updates on The Lutheran Study Bible.
- The God Whisperers. A group of theologians talk about… theology. Lots of content and lots of laughter. Check out the episode with Dr. Reed Lessing.
- Higher Things Radio. Higher Things is a grass-roots youth organization that focuses on Lutheran catechesis and worship. Highly recommended.
- Issues, etc. I’ve been listening to Issues, etc. since 2003 via web streaming and podcasts. Great show with great topics. I have both the old show (pre-cancelation) and the new show on my iPod.
- iTunes direct link
- Seeds of Faith Podcast. CPH has provided this podcast to supplement their Sunday School curriculum.
- Time out on Necessary Roughness. A recent addition to the podcasting world. Dan includes a quick set of readings and a hymn. A great way to close out an evening.
Educational:
- Car Talk. My mom and I would often listen to NPR’s Car Talk while driving home from church. When it came out as a podcast… who could resist? Lisa and I normally save up episodes and listen to them on trips. Yes… we have listened to five straight hours of Click and Clack.
- USGS Corecast. This is a rather new addition that was added to my podcast listafter the small earthquake that happened in the Spring of 2008. While surfing the USGS website I found the podcast. Very understandable and reasonably short.
Technology
- Typical Mac User Podcast. Victor is a great host. He really makes things understandable for a recent convert to the mac world. Great discussions on integrating software and backup strategies.
- Mac Roundtable Podcast. One of the strengths of this show is the wide variety of folks that are regularly on the show. Great discussions and debates!
- MacCast (Enhanced). Primarily a one man show that includes lots of information on updates to mac software. Great to listen to after each OS X update.
- MacWorld. MacWorld is the magazine of record for the Mac world. Great place to go for reviews of both hardware and software. The site has tons of great tips for the new or the advanced mac user.
- MyMac Magazine Podcast. Great discussions of mac software and hardware. They offer great commentary on the world of mac games.
- NosillaCast Mac Podcast. The NosillaCast Has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts. Allison (the host) does a great job covering the tech world… with an ever so slight mac bias.

What a list — even larger than mine. Thanks for mentioning Time Out!
No problem Dan… I really enjoy the work that you put in for your podcast.
Some of these get deleted without listening (not yours!) because I get so behind in listening to them. We normally save Car Talk for long trips and we listen to hours and hours of Click and Clack!
This is Scott Horvath from the USGS CoreCast. I’m glad to hear that CoreCast is on your list! We do try to keep them as short as possible, but when you’re talking science it’s not always that easy
Thanks again for listening.
